the sun is my enemy
I garden in the rain now. I wear big hats and long sleeves. I'm trying to develop a kind of drapy, flowing look rather than the aspect of a burqua or elderly germophobe. I see kids playing heedless of sunscreen and I think of wrapping them up or dunking them in vats of SPF 45. I am paying the price now, not for lying out on beaches or working on construction crews, just for being fair-skinned. I had my second biopsy in a year today. Last year it was squamous, in 8-10 days I'll know about this. Skin cancer is rampant. I think everyone gets it eventually, just some of us quicker than others. And mostly you don't die of it, but it's kind of weird to be resigned to a regular diagnosis of cancer. I figure I'll be sporting quite a few more little scars on my arms before I hit my dotage.

Haven't checked in in a while. Scary stuff though. I work part time in a plant nursery and sometimes forget to wear my straw hat in place of a baseball one. It's time for me to be more careful. Thanks for the reminder.
